Before they were stars, they were children, just like all of us. With little experience and big dreams of being a firefighter, an astronaut or event the first African American President of the United states.New York rapper Sheck Wes, best known for his for his 2017 song "Mo Bamba", had those same "larger-than-life" dreams and then some. Many were surprised when the platinum hip hop artist announced that he declared for the 2020 NBA Draft. Sheck was fully convinced of his pro ball dreams coming true when he announced the news to the world via social media, Wednesday night before the draft that he entered.
In excitement, he wrote on Instagram ,"Damn... it’s really real , The 2020 NBA DRAFT , all my life I always wanted to follow my passion for music and basketball," he wrote, before thanking the league for its support. "Playing basketball and going to play pro in the @nba is something that I always strived for. Tonight that dream comes true! I want to thank the @nba for their hard work with the growing the game and every team that gave me an opportunity to work out and talk with them. I also want to thank my team and my fans for always being there ! TUNE IN TO THE 2020 NBA DRAFT tonight!"
It didn't come out of nowhere though. Before his music and modeling career took off, Sheck Wes was actually playing competitively in the Amateur Athletic Union. Sadly, he wasn't selected in the draft this year. After he found out the results of the draft, Sheck Wes dropped a new visual for his new song called 'Draft 2020'. The hilarious video consists of appearances by Zack Bia and Ronnie 2k. Its available on all streaming platforms as well.
On the plus side, everything worked out for Sheck as, "Revolt" reported he just announced yesterday (Nov. 20) that he has been signed by Paris Basketball LNB Pro League and will be heading to France to chase his dream of being a basketball star.
