SXSW Plans Virtual 2021 Showcase, Prioritizing Artist Safety

Let's face it, we were all crush to see the cancellation of SXSW, one of the biggest music festivals in America, cancelled earlier this year in March; due to the unfortunate arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic. Artists who were on their way up the ladder were robbed of their opportunity to shine in front of thousands of people from all over the world. Last month, SXSW organizers shared with the public their future plans to create a virtual SXSW edition to help prioritize the safety of the artists involved.

Many of us are wondering if this includes plans to bring back the physical music events in SXSW, but so far, the music event organization has yet to release any further information on the likelihood of that happening. The virtual conference and festival is scheduled to be held next Spring, March 16 - March 20 and although they are taking artist submissions, curators are giving priority to the artists who were previously scheduled to perform earlier in the year at the 2020 SXSW event.
